Led by John Lewis, a Democrat from Georgia, lawmakers staged an unconventional sit-in protest over the government’s inaction over gun violence in the country. Following the Orlando shooting, which killed 49 and injured another 53, politicians from both parties sought to enact stricter gun laws, but failed miserably due to political divides.
